Developing Ultra High Definition

By:

Television may have come a long way. But you're dreaming if you think there isn't further to go. Engineers all over the world are working hard to develop new technologies that allow the world to entertain itself. These new capabilities can sometimes go far beyond what we already have in our current hardware. This means jobs creating systems we don't need but I'm more than happy to have. These jobs are created when the broadcast entertainment technology require us to buy completely new equipment.

NHK is the leader in this ultra-high definition race. If this technology surpasses that of current high-definition we will once again be to buy new household electronics like televisions, video cameras, and media players. The company leading the way started working with high-definition in 1964. About 31 years later studies concerning the development of ultra-high definition broadcasting were taking shape. In 2002, this very same company told its engineers to put on the first public demonstration of the prototype of ultra high definition television.

From that moment the research went at full speed. They began working hard to improve the quality this new technology could create. The planning and development stages could take years because this technology can not simply be an enhancement of previous high definition technology. It has to be completely developed from scratch. Developers also have to plan for other emerging technologies such as watching television on cell phones and portable devices as well as the increasing level of communication are devices give us.

As with all developments, some stages take longer than others. The engineers on this project are trying to find a way to make a perfect image as well as increases the speed at which signals transfer to create the perfect home theater experience. If all runs according to schedule they would like to start experimenting with satellite broadcasting in 2015, and they would like to have this new technology available for use in Japan by about 2025. To this point in a number of demonstrations the technology has proved useful and has been experimented along with some installation and relay equipment at their headquarters in Japan.

Hopefully this is technology will further more they just moviemaking. It is certainly nice to have great new home technology, but to have technology that effects the world is much more important. With any luck this technology will improve everything from surgical techniques to global trade.
