Details On Courier Insurance For Vehicles

By:

There are two separate types of insurance that any courier is required to possess. The first is the insurance which covers the value of the packages that they are carrying. When you stop to think about how much value might be represented by a cargo van full of packages being carried by a Miami courier service, you quickly realize that they need to have insurance to cover themselves, because there are any number of things which could happen and cause damage to the packages which are being carried in that load.

The second type of insurance that they will be required to have is the same insurance that any commercial vehicle is required to have, which is insurance that protects them in the event of any kind of traffic accidents. Any vehicle which is on the road all day every day is bound to be involved in accidents of some kind at some point in time, so most courier companies carry the most comprehensive insurance policies that it is possible for them to get in their state, as the insurance which is offered in each state will differ based on the laws of that state.

It is safe to assume that all courier companies are carrying insurance, because they would simply be unable to remain in business if they were driving uninsured vehicles or operating without courier insurance on their cargo. However, if you are shipping extremely valuable goods you might want to just look into how much protection their insurance policies afford you in the event of your packages becoming damaged. Courier insurance, like most types of insurance, is available in different price points, and your goods will only be covered up to a certain value. Sometimes extra insurance may be required to protect your full investment in your shipment.

As for the insurance on the courier vehicles themselves, a good courier company will certainly be carrying as much as possible. In fact, if you're trying to gauge the quality of a courier company it might not hurt to ask them about the insurance that they're carrying on their fleet. If it seems like a company is trying to make shortcuts on insurance it might raise some questions for you about their overall business practices, and it might be an indication of a courier company that is worth avoiding. Usually though, they will have comprehensive collision insurance to protect them from any type of accident that might happen.
