Detailed Information On Bronchitis

By:

Bronchitis generally refers to an acute inflammation of the air passages within your lungs. The airways that connect the trachea (windpipe) to the lungs. It causes a cough, shortness of breath and chest tightness. Coughing often brings up yellow or greenish mucus. There are two main types of bronchitis: acute and chronic. Acute bronchitis is often caused by the same viruses that cause colds. It usually starts as a sore throat, runny nose or sinus infection, then spreads to your airways. It can cause a lingering dry cough. Acute bronchitis can result from breathing irritating fumes, such as those of tobacco smoke or polluted air. Bronchitis may be indicated by an expectorating cough, shortness of breath (dyspnea) and wheezing. Occasionally chest pains, fever, and fatigue or malaise may also occur.

Acute bronchitis often starts with a dry, annoying cough that is triggered by the inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes. Bronchitis caused by Adenoviridae may cause systemic and gastroentestinal symptoms. Chronic bronchitis is a long-term condition. Chronic bronchitis is also known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD for short. Smoking and exposure to smoke are also risk factors for bronchitis. People who have chronic bronchitis are more susceptible to bacterial infections of the airway and lungs, like pneumonia. Pneumonia is more common among smokers and people who are exposed to secondhand smoke. One of the best ways to keep from getting acute bronchitis is to wash your hands often to get rid of any viruses. Minimize exposure to air pollutants.

Bronchitis Treatment and prevention Tips
