If you are clinically obese (as in the opinion of a doctor) then you almost certainly realize the time has come to take the ball into your own court in the fight for a better, healthier body. That is right, only you have the power to take control over how much food you eat, not to mention the quality of the food. For those of you who really want to lose weight and are ready to take this step, this article can help you.

If you are still with us then we assume you are prepared to do something about being overweight. You know that there is a high risk of serious health problems if you do not make some changes and you are now willing to take the steps necessary to implement effective weight loss. Slowly adjusting your eating habits is an excellent place to begin. If you genuinely want to lose weight then this article will help you start making the right choices when it comes to health and nutrition.

When it comes down to it, thinking: I need to lose weight, and actually doing it are two different things. Everyone is aware of various things that we know, if we did them, would lead to a much healthier life, but how many people have the strength to stick to them for any length of time?

The following are some of the things you could do in order to alter your eating patterns to more healthful ones if you need to lose weight:

Set yourself achievable, short-term goals that will make healthier eating habits for you such as:
-Always eating breakfast
-Losing weight gradually (do not waste your time on crash diets).
-Keeping a log of your weight loss successes

Plan your menus to include healthy foods and go easy on portion sizes. Use your menu plans when you go shopping and stick to only the things you need to carry out your meal plan!

Keep to your meal plan for the whole week! If you like, you can have smaller meals every three hours. This is not cheating and you will not get too hungry.

Healthy eating starts with knowing which foods your body needs and which foods to avoid if your aim is to lose weight.
-Do not eat high calorie snack foods.
-Remove sugar and hydrogenated oils from your diet.
-Get more fiber into your meals.
-Consume plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits (raw if possible).
-Choose whole grain foods.
-Limit alcohol consumption
-Avoid eating a lot of foods that contain creams, fats, or have a high calorie content
-Instead of ice-cream choose fat-free frozen yogurt
-Instead of sour cream choose fat-free or low-fat plain yogurt
-Go for lean cuts of meat
- Fish is really good for you
- Chicken with skin removed is healthy
-Be aware of your cooking methods. It is best to broil, roast or steam your foods

So start losing weight now by taking control. You can do this!
