Desktop Pcs And Their Integration With Your Home

By:

Computers used to be a feature in the home that was hidden away and possibly kept in a smaller box room or study. This was mainly because computers from around 10 or even 20 years ago were fairly unattractive appliances to have on show in the home. Older models were large, bulky and generally came in an uninspiring beige colour that meant people were keen to hide their PCs behind closed doors.

Generally these computers were the desktop variety as laptop computers were typically associated with businessmen and the super rich. These days though the laptop is more readily available, even smaller ultraportable netbooks are available but this hasnt killed off interest in the desktop PC.

Desktop PCs are always going to be the more powerful iteration of a computer, this is because laptop parts are limited by the power supply of a battery but also the space inside the increasingly smaller casings means high performance parts that produce a lot of heat need to be substituted for smaller, less intense parts.

Desktop PCs are not just more powerful either, quite often the price of the convenience and portability of a laptop is that you have to pay more, with a desktop the equivalent specification laptop is going to run you slightly more money.

With desktop PCs now becoming more stylish looking, even smaller in some cases these previously ugly looking machines have now become style icons themselves as many desktop PCs are built as all-in-ones where the computer parts are not stored in a tower case but are a part of what looks like the monitor, Dell and Apple are just two companies that have made these PCs and the space they save has made them very popular with todays market.

One of the little known facts about desktop PCs that many people, especially gamers, are finding out is that in order to keep up with the fast pace of technology you will have to buy a laptop PC much more frequently than a desktop as a desktop can have individual parts such as the processor, graphics card and even the amount of storage space you have available all upgraded as and when you need to.

Desktop PC parts are not that expensive these days and the task of swapping or building parts is not nearly as daunting as some may think.

So if you are looking at new computers, consider a desktop to get an altogether better deal that will truly last you a long time.
