Designing Effective Corporate Stationary Is Essential

While running the day to day operations of a business is not easy, deciding on letterhead can be equally as challenging of a task in some respects. Creating corporate stationary is more than having a name printed at the top of a page. Font style, color choice, and inclusion of a logo are all issues that need to be decided and agreed upon.

Letterhead can often be the last thing on a business owner's mind. Sometimes the task will be given to someone else. Business owner's who are involved in the designing process, however, send a message loud and clear that they are involved in every level of the company. Employees respond well to proprietor's who get in and work. Letterhead is often considered a reflection of both business and the business owner.

Business owner's generally pride themselves based on their occupations. If a positive opinion is what is desired, a letterhead with impact needs to be chosen. This is why it is important to pay attention to things like paper selection, print possibilities, and color. Furthermore, stationary does not only include the sheet of paper itself, it also includes envelopes and business cards. The same font that is used on the paper itself is also generally used on the envelopes and business cards as well to create a matching set.

There are some steps that can be taken to avoid creating a weak stationary set. The first step is to pick a quality paper. This means something thicker than copy machine paper. To stand apart from competitors, it is also advised to opt for a paper color other than white. Off-white, light gray, pale yellow, and tan are good options. In addition to standing out from other businesses, customer's and client's who will be reading the letters will not have quite as much eye strain.

Paper color and weight is the place to start. Following this step, print style needs to be decided on. Would it have more effective to have all letters and numbers the same size, print the company name bigger than everything else, or opt for a style that is not usually chosen? There are many print styles available which express authority and class.

Some companies prefer to include graphics with their letterhead. Logo's can be created by professional artists or sketched by staff members. Regardless of who makes the logo, once it is submitted to the printer it will appear next to the company name on all envelopes, business cards, and letterhead.

Corporate stationary speaks volumes about the business itself. More expensive paper gives the impression of success and prestige. Gold embossed logo's add even more impact. Creating corporate stationary is more important than most people tend to realize.
