Designing & Building Paper Airplanes

Flying has long been the passion for many. Soaring through the air in flight inspires thought and dreams of all kinds of people. For those passionate about flying is thrilling and freeing that those who don't... just don't understand.

Believe it or not, many airplane enthusiasts today began at a much smaller scale by building model airplanes and even paper airplanes... in fact many today still enjoy the art of designing and crafting paper airplanes.

Since the building of a model paper airplane requires very little material and only the patience of the builder, it is easy for anyone to begin to design their very own paper airplanes and there are no limits on one's imagination. In fact, there are numerous books available dedicated to the subject of building paper airplanes of all shapes and sizes. Many of these planes will fly for incredible amounts of time.

For the basics of paper airplane building, one only need bring your imagination and some paper. From there you can always use scissors, some glue, and even some colored pencils if you want to dress out your plane up just a bit. No matter, as you well know, the basics of paper plane building don't require a great deal of material to get you off and flying.

While building paper airplanes is usually thought as something that kids do, there are no rules which state that an adult can't have fun when they build paper airplanes.

One of the keys to developing a successful paper airplane through plenty of trial and error. With each build you make, be sure to take note of the design changes you've made since your previous effort. Don't be to quick to dispose of your prototype, keep them around to remember your designs so you can improve upon them.

In fact, each iteration of your next paper airplane should look very similar to your last one as you have taken into account any possible design flaws and errors that may have occurred.

There is really no boundaries when as far as the type of paper you want to use in your design. After all, it is your design. More than likely the type of paper that you'll use in the design and construction of your paper airplane will be greatly influenced by the environment and the conditions under which you will be wanting your plane to take flight in.

Of course, one of the great aspects of paper air plane modeling is that your mistakes and design flaws aren't overly expensive. So, experiment with all types of paper, cardboard, even laminated paper.

Once you get started, or if you find yourself a bit stuck once you do get started, simply do a quick search on paper airplanes and you'll soon find plenty of examples and books on the subject. Once you get the general idea of a few designs and what can be used, you'll be amazed at how your imagination and creative juices will flow.
