Dentistry Is What We Need

By:

The importance and relevancy of dentistry is clearly seen in everyday society. When you go into a store or look at advertisements, you'll likely find something related to this field. Toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and mouthwash are just the tip of the iceberg when thinking about everything that encompasses this discipline.

This line of work plays an important part in the lives of many people. For example, think of how many people experience tooth decay. Decay does not only happen to older people. However, people in their younger ages, even children, can experience it. This happens by not properly caring for one's teeth.

Now, think about what would happen without this great area of the medical field. Many people would ultimately end up losing teeth altogether. Just imagine how different the world would be if most people were missing teeth.
First, how would someone without their front teeth be able to eat an apple or a pear? Just think about it. They're walking down the street on a bright and sunny day and they stop at the apple tree in their neighbor's front yard. They pull off an apple and attempt to take a bite. Their black receding gums hit the outside of the fruit, without making as much as a tear the size of a paper cut.

So, they try again with the few rotten teeth they have on the side. They struggle for a few moments and then finally get a grip. Once they get a good piece, they begin chewing; suddenly realizing that one of their teeth came out and had gotten stuck in the apple.

Now, how much more difficult would this make the everyday process of eating? What about the steak eaters? Most people, for convenience sake, would have to resort to soup, ice cream, baby food and mashed potatoes.
Aside from missing teeth, without dentistry there would be an unimaginable amount of people with tooth aches. Just think having to see an angrily disturbed looking face from a majority of the people you pass on the street or came into contact with. This would make for a very unpleasant society.

Let's not forget about the bad breath everyone would have to endure. Of course, everyone would be used to it, to some extent. However, don't forget to take into account that everyone's breath wouldn't smell the same. Think about having to talk to someone who just ate an onion sandwich. Without toothpaste or mouthwash, there would be no feasible way of getting the smell out of their mouths. Even worse, how would you like having to talk to someone who has never brushed their teeth a day in their life?

In all seriousness, the aforementioned examples are really not far from the truth, if at all. The importance of dentistry cannot be ignored. The unmatched advancements they provide to the hygiene of society are one of their most notable attributes. Most of all, without dentistry, eating would be difficult and everyone would have to wear nose guards.
