Discount shoes have nothing special other than being the shoes whose former selling prices have been slashed by a significant amount and are offered for sale in brick and mortar stores, online stores, or through auction. The prices of the discount pair of shoe is lowered due to reasons such as; shoes being out of season due to its color and style-summer shoes cannot be worn in winter, the manufacturer having launched a newer model of the same shoe, low sales turnover leading to large shoe inventory, slight abnormality of particular shoes and low market response due to economic factors.

Discount boots are often sold at less expensive price but they offer the same quality of standards similar to other shoes; its only that they have bee discounted. In some cases the shoes are discounted to sell faster and create space for another shoe deliver, or raise cash for more stock. This can be termed as getting rid of the dead stock. Due to their lower prices the discounted shoes often sell faster and in bulk as customers try to stock up for the future especially for the season that will come back in the future; it is obvious that most shoes are sold expensively when on season thus the same shoe becomes unaffordable to many customers.

Despite the lowered prices the discounted shoes should not be taken to be of inferior quality; the only difference is only the price and the fact that they might be offered off season. Even if the reason for the discounting of Coach shoes is given as abnormality it does not mean that the shoe is technically abnormal or has defects as in structure but the color or design that does not fit the current season. This means that the defects are minimal and cannot affect its functioning or compromise the reputation of the manufacturer and the brand. The greatest advantage of the discounted shoes is that they allow customers to afford those shoes they could only have dreamt of and get different varieties at cheap prices.

Many reputable manufacturers and stores always opt to dispose the off season stock to create space in their inventory and save on the warehousing of such waiting the next season. Warehousing could be more expensive than the discounted price difference for there will be the need to rent storage, power, insurance and many other overheads in addition to holding a lot of working capital.
