What you see - Located amidst a kaleidoscope of cinema and pubs at Malad in Mumbai, The Peking Tom restobar serves Chinese and Thai cuisine. The interiors are done up in red and gold with LCD screens set up for sports events. The bartender shows off his flair at a small bar inside. The outdoor area has evenly spaced tables with Chinese horoscope serving as table mats. The waiter and hostess are dressed in elegant Chinese outfits and popular music plays in the background.

What you get The Peking Tom has a decent selection of wine, vodka, rum, whiskey, Beer and not easily available brands like Corona, Heineken, Carlsberg in other domestic and international liquors. Happy hours from 7 PM to 9 PM on weekdays and weekends with exciting offers like one-on-one attract a lot of youngsters.

In mocktails, Strawberry Passion is a delightful try made with strawberry, mango and pineapple crush blended with vanilla ice cream. For an authentic experience though, skip the mocktail and try the Chinese tea.

The selection of starters and soups in seafood, chicken, lamb and vegetarian are very tempting. In starters, we ordered Crispy Hoisin Vegetables, which had assorted diced vegetables, batter fried and tossed in Hoisin sauce. It had a sweet and spicy taste. Next we sampled Thai chili garlic fish which had well marinated slices of promfret sauted in sweet and spicy sauce. Hot and tangy Lobster, which had batter fried lobster pieces stir fried in hot and sour sauce, was served in the lobster shell and with a side salad.

For the main course you are spoilt for choice with noodles and rice in various styles of preparations like Chinese, Thai, Indonesian and Singapore. We settled for Crabmeat fried rice with succulent pieces of fresh crab and had it with Vegetables in celery oyster sauce which had mixed Chinese greens in oyster sauce with tiny bits of fresh celery.

Desserts at The Peking Tom are limited to regulars like Honey noodles with ice cream, Date pancakes and Sizzling brownie with ice cream.

Our verdict The Peking Tom has mastered the widely popular Indian version of Chinese cuisine and serves tasty food in a comfortable ambience. If you are bored of Chinese food, you can even relish sizzlers here. Enjoy a quiet dinner with family or friends outdoors or support your favorite sports team indoors. The moderately priced restaurant cum bar also provides take away service and valet parking facility. The service is attentive and makes good recommendations.
