The Basics Regarding a Radiology Technician

You will use different types of machinery, depending on your training, to produce images of the internal parts of a patient.

You may also work in the fields of radiation therapy, where radiation is applied to help rid a patient of certain cancers and ailments.

Specialties for a Radiology Technician

The people who work to produce images that will allow the doctor to determine the cause of a patient's medical problems can further specialize in the type of medical equipment they operate, or the type of patient they are working with. There are technicians who work only with the pediatric patient, and there are some that work only with the geriatric patient. Among the different types of patients the radiology technician can choose the body parts they want to work with, and thus narrow their field of specialty.
Some of the specialties these professionals enter are:

*Bone densitometry

*Cardiovascular radiography
*Interventional radiography
*Sonography

*General radiography

There are numerous places within the practice of medicine that a person can use their degrees they earned as a radiology technician, and there are many certificates they work to gain and cause their knowledge of the equipment used in this medical practice to be more advanced. The more devices you are licensed and certified to operate the more valuable you are to places like hospitals and diagnostic clinics.

Working as a radiology technician usually means you are working on discovering the exact cause of a patient's discomfort.

Therefore, you must be a compassionate person that is willing to realize that people who are in pain are often short tempered and in a bad mood. The patient does not intentionally hate the technician they are merely taking their frustration out on them.

Having what is known as a "thick skin", or in other words not taking everything everyone says as a personal affront is a handy thing to have in this profession.
