Decorations For Your Baby Shower

By:

If you really want to raise the excitement level at your baby shower, don't forget the decorations! The right decorations always help make the event much more fun and festive. Fortunately, top-quality decorations don't need to be costly.

In fact, you can make many of them by hand. It's probably not a good idea to make all of them but rather, have a mixture. Make some and use some store-bought decorations.

Here are just a few decoration ideas that you can make cheaply and with little fuss.

1) Baby-Jar Decorations. Get several jars from friends with babies. These are great for decorating for your shower! You can hand-paint them in a variety of colors, or you might get a few baby magazines and cut out pictures of some cute babies. You can also decorate the jars with pictures of baby toys or even pregnant mothers. So what do you use these jars for? You can create centerpieces for flowers, candy holders, or candle-holders.

2) Baby-Bottle Decorations. Similar to baby jars, baby bottles make appropriate decorations for your shower. You can either ask people whose babies have outgrown the need for a bottle, or you can buy inexpensive plastic ones at many dollar stores. Decorate these bottles with magazine ads as you did the jars, or paint them in a variety of bright colors.

You can use these bottles as flower centerpieces, candy holders, candleholders. Or for a really fun idea, put your condiments such as mustard and ketchup in them and use them when you're serving food.

3) Miniature Baby-Bottle Decorations. You can buy these at Binky's stores. Take three Lifesavers candies together. Get some white frosting and put it around them while they're together. Next, take a blue or pink jelly belly (depending on the baby's gender). The frosting should hold the jelly belly in place. This makes for a great bottle decoration. Spread them around the room and on the tables.

4) Card Decorations. When all of your guests arrive, have some markers and / or crayons as well as some pre-cut paper,, shaped like a card. Then have each of your shower guests make a personalized card. The card is to have a card on front, and inside, a few words of sound wisdom for the mom-to-be, on the inside of the card. Then take the cards and spread them around the room, decorating either walls or tables with them. At the end of the shower, the mom keeps them to read to the rest of the guests before the event is finished.

4) Christmas Shower Decorations. If your shower happens to be taking place in or close to December, consider decorating a little Christmas tree with pink or blue lights (again, depending on the baby's gender). You can use small rattles, bottles, stuffed animals, baby jars, etc., to decorate it, along with traditional ornaments.

These are just a few ideas for decorating your shower affordably. Hopefully if nothing else, they have gotten your own creative juices to flowing so you can generate your own decoration ideas!
