Moving into an apartment, especially your first one is an amazing experience and an even more amazing one when you're moving into a big city. If money isn't an object, or not much of one, then you'll be making a trip to a few furniture stores to pick out furniture for all your rooms. The best place to find both inexpensive furniture and great accoutrement to "dress out" your apartment is to hit the thrift stores and resale shops. If you've seen "Storage Wars" or "Auction Hunters" on TV then you know that a lot of these stores buy out abandoned storage units and a lot of storage units have great furniture and decorating accessories stored in them. This means you willl be able to afford all the furniture you need and still have enough money left over to buy paintings, lamps, mirrors and whatever else you'll want when choosing furniture for your apartment.

While the overall cost for furniture and decorating items for your apartment may be more expensive, if you don't have the money to buy everything up front, you can take advantage of the rent to own stores. These work out well for families who can afford the weekly or bi-weekly payments a lot easier than they can afford to outfit their entire apartment at once. The best thing about this idea is it applies everywhere since rent to own stores are everywhere.

Regardless of where you're looking to find an apartment, unless you've already got furniture and decorations from a previous situation, you'll be looking for ways to make your apartment into your home. Decorating your apartment the way you want will be the key to making it yours.
