Decor For Screened Porches

If you have a screened in porch or an all season room, chances are that is where you spend most of your time, relaxing and watching nature or the neighbors depending on your setting. Although it is probably very bright and airy, it may need some decorating. You will want to keep it comfortable and inviting but still give it a little change.

Adding in plants are a great idea, they make the room feel more alive. If you have a green thumb this idea may even work better. Put up some tropical plants and create your own little rain forest setting. Since this room will most likely be in the sun more, plants will do great in this area. Or even a few cacti to set up a nice look. But if you have children make sure you check to see you not placing cactus that have poisonous needles.

Hanging up some nice flower pots or some ivy is another great idea. Though ivy is known to grow over the house and may eventually cover up the windows and block the sun. So if you don't want that place up some nice pots with some colorful flowers in. This will work in any of the rooms we are discussing, or really outside of them too. It's a great way to get a nice feeling when you look out of the room too. As far as furniture again you will need to consider if this area can be locked up or not. Don't spend a lot of money on something that can be stolen. Pick out something that is either wicker or bamboo, make sure they are comfortable and you will be able to sit on them and enjoy the sun.

Adding a rug in your screened porch area will make it feel more comfortable and homey. If you have sided with wicker furniture make sure you get a nice rug that will go along well with the decor. Of course you can add in some nice color with the right area rug, plus if you live where it gets cold these rugs will help keep your feet warm on what may be a cold floor.

Don't forget to add in a few lamps to the room. Even if you normally only sit in the room during the day, just in case it will be used at night a nice floor lamp will work to create a nice atmosphere.

If you have enough space on the outside part of the porch think about adding in a smaller sized fountain. These create a relaxing atmosphere when you can hear the water trickling down them.

Fountains can be found in many sizes and you can even think of buying one a placing fish in it. This will be a great treat for kids if you have them. They can watch the fish grow through the years.

Again, these are just some tips for an indoor or outdoor porch area that is closed in and used either all year round or if you live in the south at least 9 months out of the year.
