Dealing With Seasonal Allergies

By:

Anyone that has had to deal with the runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing of seasonal allergies already understands how difficult and uncomfortable that it can make life. It is blamed mainly on the pollen that gets loose and becomes airborne during certain times of the year. Thankfully there are some things that you can do to make life easier during these times. There will be days when the pollen count is extremely high, and that is when you will need all the help that you can get.

It should be obvious to anyone in allergy misery that finding the right medication and treatment for the allergies are the best thing to do. Remember to make sure that the allergy reactions is because of allergens and not something else. Your local doctor is very trained to spot and treat and well as give good advise on allergies and their reactions. They will most likely suggest OTC medications or if necessary prescribe stronger relief medication. Sometimes this is the only way for some sufferers to find adequate relief.

Some simple basics can be a big help with keeping the pollen away if that is the allergy trigger. Static electricity on clothing for instance is magnetic in a sense to pollen. So, wearing clothing that does not build up static electricity is helpful in attracting less pollen to clothing. Cotton is a good choice while silk and synthetics are not. Pollen will stick to hair as well and it can be helpful to wash hair before retiring to keep the allergens away from your pillow when sleeping.

There is nothing like a breath of fresh air, anytime, especially springtime, unless of course the fresh air is polluted with fresh pollen. This is a good indicator that the pollen count is high and that you should close your home windows as well as change your heat and AC filters so that you can breathe easier while indoors. This is also true for vehicles and the filtering system and you can restrict the fresh air flow and just recirculate the existing air in the vehicle.

If you suffer from pollen it is wise to keep yourself aware of the daily pollen count in your area, so you can better decide the best course of action for you on those days. This is a easy way to effective plan your day. Keep good filters on hand and changed regularly, if not more than normally. When the pollen count is high, use the dryer to dry the wash. This will help keep your clothing fresh and pollen free. On rainy days you will get a break from pollen so get ready for a rainy day.
