Dealing With A Break Up

By:

Having your heart broken is one of the most painful experiences one can encounter. You entrust your heart and soul to someone just to have it broken. Its hard to forget broken promises and the special memories you've shared. How do we deal with a break up and move on with our lives?

First thing is that we should realize that past is past. It is futile to dwell what has passed when there are doors of opportunities that opened for you. Its good to remember the past times but do not drown yourself in these memories. Live for today, not yesterday.

Occupy yourself with things that would capture all of your attention and would help you forget your failed relationship. You can engage in sports or classes, seminars, or go shopping. Watch TV or movies. By occupying yourself with these activities, you will forget your dilemma for the meantime.

Do not be depressed. Avoid destructive behaviors like staying inside your room for days or indulging in sweets. These things will not help you mend your broken relationship. Instead, they will make you feel worse. Instead of doing these things, do something more productive or activities that you enjoy.

Treat yourself. Go out. Go shopping. Eat out or hang out with your friends. Watch the latest movies. Read books. Go to the spa. Work out in the gym. Do something that would make you feel better about yourself and will boost your confidence.
Sometimes talking helps. Have a chat with your close friends. Tell them how you feel and what really happened. Cry if you feel like crying. You will realize that you are not the only one going through or have been through this experience. Talking does not only help you unload your burden but your friends can also give you advice on what to do or how to deal with it. Just be sure that they are really your true friends and you can trust them with sensitive issues like this.

Talk to a professional if necessary. Your friends can only give you their insights based on what they know. A professional advice would be more effective because it is based on studies and research on cases similar to yours.

Forgive and forget. Accept things as they are because they wont change, no matter what you do. Do not harbor negative feelings because they will only ruin your happiness and your chances of entering into another relationship. Learn how to forgive and do not be narrow-minded. Not because you failed your relationship, you will fail again and again. Do not be cynical. Open your eyes to other doors being opened for you. Eventually, you will forget about the pain, but do not forget your experiences. Learn from it. They will serve as a reminder of what you should and should not do in a relationship.
