Darwin is a city where indigenous culture meets modern society, the city life is refreshingly simple in Darwin. Train: You can reach Darwin using the famous Ghan Rail service, which runs from Adelaide twice a week.

Car: The best way to reach Darwin by car is by taking the Stuart Highway from Alice Springs.

Bus: You can reach Darwin by bus from Mt Isa, Kununurra, and Broome or you can take the Greyhound Service from Alice Springs. Within Darwin, you can take air-conditioned bus services like Airnworth and Buslink.

Flights: Darwin is accessible from other cities in Australia and a few international destinations like Singapore. The airport in the city is known as the Darwin International Airport.

Sea: You can also reach Darwin by sea as international cruises have a stopover here.

Attractions in Darwin

A major part of Darwin attractions include botanical gardens and national parks. The Charles Darwin National Park is the most popular because it was at one time home to the Aboriginals but today it is a sad reminder of the World War II. The Casuarina Coastal Reserve is one of the most beautiful places in Darwin and is spread over 1500 hectares. It has 8km of sandy beaches surrounded by steep cliffs. If you like swimming then visit Lake Alexander as it is the ideal place for family picnics.

Darwin also has several historical monuments and some of the most popular include Darwin Wharf Precinct,Fannie Bay Gaol,Burnett House at Myilly Point, Adelaide River War Cemetery, and Aviation Heritage Centre. There is something for everyone in Darwin and some of the best experienced for children and families include a visit to the Litchfield National Park, which consists of several waterfalls. You can even take the Adelaide River Queen cruise to watch jumping crocodiles. If you are a croc fan then visit the Crocodylus Park. Another very popular attraction is the Territory Wildlife Park, which offers wetlands walk through monsoon forest.
