Darts Scoring And Regulations

By:

A game of throwing pointed projectile objects at a round board cut into a twenty piece pie (not literally a pie). Each of the pie shaped portions of the dart board is represented by a number.

As you may have guessed, the numbers range from one to twenty. However, in some variations of the game, played in Europe, they actually only use multiples of fives and have ten pizza-shaped sections of the board.

That may sound like a good idea, that is, unless you truly understand darts. Apart from the pie slice like sections there are two rings; one that runs around the circumference of the board and another that bisects each numbered section into two.

The outer ring is what they call the D ring, and the middle ring is called the T ring. The D stands for double and it reflects the number of the section it is in.

So if you stick a dart into the outer ring of the twenty portion of the board, then you will gain forty points. If you stick a dart in the triple (the T box) you will then acquire sixty points.

At the center of the board there is the bull's-eye this is worth fifty points, and right around that is the bull. The bull is only worth twenty-five points.

So you may have just come aware that actually aiming for the bull's-eye isn't the most beneficial thing to do. In fact, the dart board is set up in a very strategic manner.

Each of the higher value numbers are offset by lower numbers on the side. Believe me this is no accident.

On either side of the twenty you have the one and the five, so gaining points here is the least likely spot. Hitting triple twenty will give you the most points possible, but missing ends in the least points possible.

Only professional players will spend energy trying to hit the T twenty. In fact hitting any T box in seventeen or up is going to be worth more than the bull's-eye.

You also have to take into account the surface area. Missing the T twenty but getting in the twenty zone, gives you only twenty points.

Missing the bull's-eye and getting in the bull, gives you twenty five points and the surface area is greater. The most challenging places to hit are measurable in this order T twenty, T nineteen, then bull's-eye.

Keeping a good strategy can keep you a head of a better player that hasn't thought things through. All good games require strategy, and darts is no exception.

Learn to become a real dart pro and to start betting people out of their moneys in bars.
