Dancewear Leotards Come In All Styles And Colours

By:

Although commonly known, the leotard co exists as training apparel in the dance and gymnastic worlds. Its origins began from an innovative idea from a gentleman named Jules Leotard and was not used as dancewear at first. Born in 1872 in Toulouse, France, Jules showed an interest in gymnastics and, in particular, acrobatics. He achieved his dream as in a circus act and was the subject of the famous circus song, "The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze." Aside from his innovative act, his famous legacy was attached to a piece of clothing he designed and worn called a maillot. The garment allowed him unimpeded movement for his acrobatic performances and planned to show off his muscular physique. Leotard's maillot became highly favored not only with other circus performers but also accepted as the garment of choice for the ballet world.

By 1886, the use of a maillot became mandatory in Paris as dancer's practice attire. However, it was usually required to be in one colour scheme known as "Ballet Pink." Of course, the term maillot is rarely used these days and long forgotten, but Jules's namesake, the leotard, has sustained the length of time. The leotard is the product of choice for millions of ballet, jazz and gymnastic students throughout the world. It is a requirement for the apprentice to don this dancewear as well. Happily changes have taken place in dancewear attire in recent years. Never boring and becoming more inventive in design, leotards are affordable with some pieces that can easily bridge over to day wear. Leotards are basically a very good piece of clothing where a woman can comfortably move around and create a finished and polished look.

There are three components to seek out when purchasing the ideal leotard.

Fabric: Contemporary dancewear's fabrication can be found in a cotton Lycra blend, nylon and even velvet. All are guaranteed for ease of movement. Fabrics, such as those in 'Metal Rocks' collection contain a mixture of Spandex/ Lycra providing a star-struck shiny sheen. This style will be sure to be the one to make the wearer stand out from their peers.

Style: Extensive expertise from the top manufacturers in dancewear brings styling to an ultimate level for women and children. Choose from regulation, camisoles, and halters, long sleeve, short sleeves, tanks, and catsuits with just about everything else imaginable in design. Leotards versatility proves that there is a style that is prefect to wear in comfort no matter what the temperature is outside.

Colour: Available in a multitude of colour, leading brands of children and women's dancewear are never dull and drab like the weather. Colours are represented are the entire spectrum of the rainbow and more. Of course, basic black is never passé, especially in a nylon Lycra spandex sleeveless metallic catsuit.
