Dancewear For Tap Class - What Will I Need?

By:

When starting a tap dance class, a first time dancer may be unsure as to what their dancewear should include. Well, first off, a tap dancer needs his/her tap shoes, the most important part of their apparel. They will also need comfortable clothing to learn and practice in. Picking a good pair of tap shoes Now, there are a couple things a new tapper should keep in mind when looking for a pair of tap shoes. Like what make of the shoe would work best for them. The preferred shoes for beginners are the ones with low heels. These will make it easier to move around and learn new tap steps without losing balance. It is also easier to move in a shoe not made with rubber soles, as these can get stuck and prevent the necessary movement for shuffling. When it comes to choosing between the styles of soles available, split soles offer more flexibility than full. Shoe size is another thing to consider, of course. It is best to have a snug fitting shoe, as this allows a dancer to better control tapping. Lastly, a good pair of tap shoes will have taps that are of equal width as the toes and heels of the shoe.

Choosing the appropriate clothing for one's dancewear In traditional dance studios, students are usually required to wear an outfit that consists of a leotard and a pair of tights or a catsuit. It is essential that adequate movement is allowed by the clothing that is worn. Leotards, tights and catsuits are the typical dancewear of tap students because they provide this free movement. These dancewear items come in a wide variety of colours and there are several styles to choose from. Catsuits and leotards consist of no sleeves, short sleeves and long sleeves.

Tights come as footless, stirrup or footed. The material used for all three clothing products is a nylon, cotton, metallic or velvet spandex. If one wishes to change the look of their outfit there are several accessories that can be added for example items such as headbands, hats, gloves, arm warmers, leg warmers and skirts. Although most teachers will require that the typical leotard and tights or catsuit be worn, some others privilege students with being able to pick their own dancewear out to their liking. It is best to still choose clothes that provide plenty of movement. Tank tops and t-shirts make for great tops. As for bottoms, yoga pants or sweat pants will do just fine.
