Daily Horoscopes: Are They Accurate?

By:

More and more people these days are reading their daily horoscope. Sometimes it makes you laugh, other times it makes you think. And sometimes it just doesn't seem to make sense at all. Regardlessly, there are people who absolutely must review their daily horoscope before making any major decisions.

But when you look at the big picture of life, just how accurate can a daily horoscope really be? Is there actually any pertinent information being presented? Or is it little more than vague generalities written to help an editor fill a page?

To properly address these questions, we must dig a little deeper. When putting together an astrological chart on someone, an astrologer looks at several different variables. But with a daily horoscope, most of these variables are absent.

A qualified astrologer will start by asking you to provide the exact time and date of your birth. From this information they will be able to figure out the precise position of the stars and planets at the time of your birth.

Next, where in the world were you born? What country, state and city were you born in? Ideally, providing the astrologer with the exact latitude and longitude of your birth place would be optimum. In years past this would have been quite a task, but with today's GPS capabilities it can be determined easily.

From the information provided, the astrologer will construct a detailed chart. This is where it all gets interesting. They'll construct a complete image of you and show how you fit into the vast cosmic image. They can tell you things about your personality, your strong points, weak points, intelligence level and a lot more.

One fact to be mindful of is that a horoscope isn't designed to give you pinpoint answers. But it can provide a lot of general information that can help you to decide which would most likely be your best course of action. You always have free will, and will always be able to decide for yourself, what is the best direction to go.

So when we look at all that goes into making a full horoscope, the daily horoscope pales in comparison. It represents a mere "flash" in time based solely upon your astrological sign. Each sign covers a time period of about 30 days. This means that there's only about a 1 in 30 chance that a daily horoscope will be very accurate. But just knowing your sign won't get you very far -- astrologically speaking.

But, if it's general information you're looking for, a daily horoscope may be fine. Either way, they're still a lot of fun to read and certainly can't do any harm.
I would however encourage everyone interested in astrology to get a least one professional horoscope in their lifetime. It can be quite an enlightening experience and reveal traits that maybe you didn't even know you have!
