One afternoon, I was watching a cooking show with my son beside me when we both became interested with what the chef was cooking. My son suddenly told me that he wanted the same thing so I ran towards our computer to check out if the recipe can be found online. I got really excited to know that my favorite cheese is part of the recipe so we set up cooking it the next day.
I then checked in net to see if the recipe is available and I was glad to know that it is there and its called
Gruyere Pepperoni Pinwheels Special. I immediately went to our nearest grocery store to get all the ingredients needed to cook the said dish. My son has been helping me out in the kitchen when he knows that I am in the mood to cook. Let me share to you the recipe I got:
Here are the ingredients needed:
50g/2oz Freshly Grated Gruyere Cheese
1 level teasp Dried Sage
1 level teasp Dried Oregano
Black Pepper
225g/8oz Puff Pastry
2 tbsp Mustard
50g/2oz Sliced Pepperoni
1 Egg, beaten
Follow these simple steps:
1. In a bowl, mix together the Gruyere, sage, oregano, and pepper until well blended.
2.Cut the pastry in half after rolling the pastry out into an oblong about 5mm/1/4 inch thickness.
3. Spread the mustard evenly over both the sheets of pastry, leaving a 2.5cm/1 inch border at the top edges.
4. Then the pepperoni and arrange in a single layer over the mustard on both sheets of pastry. Finally top the pepperoni with the Gruyere mixture, once again, on both sheets of pastry.
5. Brush the edges of each half with the egg then roll each of the topped puff pastry sheets tightly into logs. Lay, seam-side down, on a baking sheet and chill for 30 minutes.
6. After that, start to preheat the oven to 200C, 400F, Gas mark 6 and line some baking trays with parchment paper.
7. You can then cut each log into 5mm inch-thick slices and arrange, cut-side down, at least 1 inch apart on the lined baking trays. Start baking it for roughly about 15minutes until it rises and get golden brown and then before serving.
