Look at the decor and the design of the clothes of the rest of the entourage in terms of either color or thematic elements. Just remember that, when you are planning the design of the customized tie, you are essentially working with a very small piece of fabric. The design that you finally choose should be at least visible and apparent from about 4 or 5 feet away. Minute prints will be very iffy to use because not everybody will fully appreciate them. On the flip side, humongous prints would also look weird because not everything will be seen, and so it won't be able to send the intended message.
