People have been using blinds for a very long time now. Homeowners everywhere are deciding to take off the blinds and style their windows with curtains. There are several different reasons for transferring from blinds to curtains; expense is less for curtains, more choices to make, can be made from hand, and easy to take care of.

Most people feel that blinds are just too much of a hassle to clean. While a curtain you can just take down and get dry cleaned or even throw into the washing machine. Blinds need to be hand cleaned and you need to clean each section or it will only continue to look dirty.

Blinds are not the least expensive item to purchase, and sometimes if you have kids who are going through the blinds a lot you will lose one or two of them. But curtains can be made very easily and you can find a cheap material to use to make your own blinds. Not only will the curtain make the room warmer than a blind would but they can even let in more light without opening them up.

If you make the curtains yourself, you can save even more money. Making curtains is not difficult to do. You can even make them out of bed sheets if you choose. Making curtains only involves using a straight stitch on the sewing machine. There are no-sew ways to make curtains as well, such as using an iron on basting technique. No sew curtains are easy to make; you just need to use the iron on basting tape to create the seam.

You have so many choices to decide on. You can decide what material to use, what color or colors to use, and whether you want lined or unlined curtains. You can sew your curtains together or you can choose a no sew pattern to create the look for your curtains. You can match your curtains with a focal point in your room. It may be your sofa or a rug down on your floor. Find a color that stands out the most and highlight that color in curtains.

There many other reasons why decorating with curtains is a far better alternative to decorating with blinds. Curtains are easy to make even if you are a novice with the sewing machine and they can pull together the decorating elements of any room. Whether you choose to use no sew curtains, make your own curtains or if you buy ready made curtains, you will find that you save money on these window coverings when compared to blinds.
