Cure Insomnia With A White Noise Machine

According to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, insomnia is a common condition in which you have trouble falling or staying asleep. This condition can range from mild to severe, depending on how often it occurs and for how long.

Insomnia can be chronic (ongoing) or acute (short-term). Chronic insomnia means having symptoms at least 3 nights a week for more than a month. Acute insomnia lasts for less time.

Some people who have insomnia may have trouble falling asleep. Other people may fall asleep easily but wake up too soon. Others may have trouble with both falling asleep and staying asleep.

As a result, insomnia may cause you to get too little sleep or have poor-quality sleep. You may not feel refreshed when you wake up.

Those who suffer from insomnia agree that it is a pretty terrible thing to suffer from, and suffering from long-term sleep deprivation can actually harm your health in some pretty major ways. While there are lots of different causes to insomnia, sometimes insomniacs are simply more sensitive to disruptive background noises than other people are. If you find that you have trouble sleeping because you are constantly listening to what's going on in the background, you should consider using a white noise machine to help you get to sleep and stay asleep.

A white noise machine will basically take all of the sound frequencies and blend them together in a soft, fuzzy noise that easily fades to the background of your mind but which also drowns out pretty much all other noises. There are many different types of these machines available today, and using one may be a solution for your insomnia, though they won't help all types of insomniacs.

If you are only a bit distracted by surrounding sounds or if you sleep in an area that is generally fairly quiet, you could go with a cheaper white noise machine that simply has an adjustable volume control to allow you to make it quieter or louder as needed. If, on the other hand, you're very easily distracted and wake up to noises frequently, you may need a more high-tech white noise machine.

The newest machines on the market actually adjust their volume and frequencies automatically. These machines have not only speakers going out but also microphones coming in, and they can read and respond to the sound that they're "hearing." This means that you can rely on your white noise machine to give out soft noises when there's not much going on around you, but when loud noises threaten to interrupt your sleep, the machine can gradually up its volume to cover the noise without waking you itself. This type of white noise machine can be great if you need a way to fall asleep without worrying about fiddling with volume controls.
