Crystal Therapy And Colour Therapy Interpret Colour Meanings In The Same Way

By:

Amber comes in a range in colour from a very pale, transparent lemon yellow to a deep, dark golden brown.

Although it is not strictly a crystal but actually a fossilised tree resin amber is used for many healing and therapeutic purposes, among them as a protection against negative energy and to cleanse the environment. It is also believed to promote joy and boost creativity.

In colour theory, yellow symbolises wisdom, joy, happiness and intellectual energy with the exact shade giving a more precise meaning. Yellow-green can mean deceit and creates a disoriented feeling. Orange-yellow imparts a sense of establishment. Clean light yellow clears the mind, making it active and alert.

While it may be difficult to prove scientifically the colour's association with clear thinking and intellect suggests that the lawyer's yellow legal pad and the use of yellow sticky labels in businesses and many other places may be no coincidence.

In colour therapy too, yellow symbolizes wisdom, joy and happiness. Yellow-gold is Sunday's colour. It is perhaps no surprise that both colour therapists and experts in the use of crystal healing suggest wearing something yellow, such as amber pendants, as a protection from lethargy and depression during dull weather.

Carrying or wear yellow gemstones, in a Baltic amber necklace, for example, can help to promote the ability to express yourself. They are excellent stones for writers and public speakers to increase eloquence. The yellow gemstones stimulate movement and mental awareness and are used to enhance decision making skills.

Yellow is the colour associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. This is the chakra that deals with identity.

In Tibetan Buddhism there are five sacred stones. They are the crystal for light, turquoise for infinity of sea and sky, coral for life and form, gold for the golden ray of the sun and silver for the light of the moon. Gold is closely linked with Divinity and those gods associated with the Sun. It is symbolic of wealth and success.

Wassily Kandinsky, the painter, was one of the first pioneers of colour theory. A famous Russian painter and art theorist, he is often considered the founder of abstract art. Kandinsky believed yellow communicated the qualities of warmth, excitement and happiness. However, colours have different meanings in different countries. Yellow represents courage in Japan, mourning in Egypt and hope in the West. Nevertheless, in the West at least, meditating holding a yellow stone, such as amber, can be worth a try for anyone in need of a powerful cleanser and of wisdom and clarity.
