Crystal Method Announces Id Festival Tour

By:

Cross your fingers, techno fans The Crystal Method might just be coming to an outdoor amphitheater near you this summer.

On April 29, the duo announced their upcoming tour with the Identity Festival, also known as the ID Festival, which is being touted as the first ever big event, all electronic music festival. Theyll be playing alongside more than 25 top-notch digital acts, such as world renowned groups Pretty Lights, DJ Shadow, and Disco Biscuits, to name a few. The festival offers a perfect opportunity for underground digital artists to play large-scale amphitheaters that they might not otherwise be able to fill. Festival promoters have yet to announce specific dates and venues, but the tour has been officially scheduled to launch in August and plans to hit twenty major amphitheaters across North America.

The Crystal Methods most recent album, Divided By Night, has been a huge success, making it to number two on the Top Electronic Albums chart and earning the digital duo another Grammy nomination. In 2005, their third album, Legion of Boom, was nominated for a Best Electronic / Dance Album Grammy. In recent years, founding members Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland have formed their own label titled Tiny e Records, under which they have re-released their Drive, London, and Vegas albums, as well as Divided By Night. Even more recently, the duo was featured on the remix album Tron: Legacy R3CONFIGUR3D, along with first-class artists Paul Oakenfold, Moby, and the Japanese Popstars.

Of course, Jordan and Kirkland are no strangers to the big-time music festival scene. They took over the Sahara tent at the 2009 Coachella Music Festival, the world famous SoCal show that draws more than 160,000 music fans each year. Theyve also made the rounds at Summerfest, Milwaukees eleven day concert extravaganza that is known for its unparalleled turnouts, in the range of four million attendees each year.

With the underground digital music scene attracting more and more devoted followers every year, it seems as if electronic music may finally be getting the attention it deserves. With the upcoming ID Festival, concertgoers will finally be granted the opportunity to experience their favorite electronica bands at some of the coolest outdoor venues along with thousands of fellow techno fans. And the boys from The Crystal Method seem pretty happy about it too; a recent post on their website regarding the ID Festival says, Take a look at the lineup so excited! Well, were excited too guys.
