and you may qualify for lower interest payments. But theres an even better reason to monitor your credit rating! Once you have a score of over 620, you can obtain a SIVA loan (Stated Income Verified Asset loan). Ideally, you verify your income and demonstrate that you have some sort of assets. If you dont have assets, you work with the Deposit Loan Program. A bank associated with the program opens a deposit-only account in your name with $25,000. The money isnt actually yours and you cant touch it, but it gives you a verifiable asset.
Why are they so eager to help? Because you have to pay them. They charge a monthly interest fee on these loans. Still, though, the minimum term of the loan is usually three months, so for three months interest, you get an asset report of $25,000. Not too shabby. Furthermore, deposit loans actually work to build your credit (you cant miss the paymentstheres nothing to repay!)
Here are some things to look out for;
As soon as youre pressured to buy now, get suspicious.
Never allow yourself to be pressured into signing anything.
Never agree to a loan where you know you cant afford the payments.
Never sign blank documents (or documents with suspiciously large blank spaces).
Be suspicious of big promises: extra cash, lower payments, etc.
NEVER deed your property to ANYONE.
Never sign anything you dont understand.
Keep good records.
Dont be afraid to challenge inaccurate charges or reports.
When doing home improvement, check references and get several
estimates.
Ask if credit insurance is required with the loan.
Shop around if you do need credit insuranceyoure not obligated to buy from the lender
Investigate reputations BEFORE you get scammed.
You can rescind (cancel) any loan or deal within three days FOR ANY REASON provided you cancel the contract in writing before midnight on the third business day.
