Creativity And Pool, Artistic Billiards

By:

There are many different types of billiards games, each with variant rules and regulations. Generally these games are divided into three different categories: carom, pool, and snooker.

Pool and snooker are very similar; they both contain six pockets in the table, in which you aim to hit the object balls into. The difference between these two pool sports is in the game play and the rest.

The rest is unique to snooker games. It is that little stick that the players are going to place their pool stick on while they are shooting.

This will change the game drastically, because you will be standing from a different angle, hitting from a different position and not to mention... well snooker games are just a bit different. Most of us are familiar with pool, whether it be eight ball or nine ball, or even cut throat.

Pool is the most commonly played game of the billiards persuasion. Generally everyone knows the basic concept of these games.

Though I must say, artistic billiards is the most addicting and benefiting sport played on a pool table. This game can be played with as many players as you would like, which makes it great for social events and parties.

It is also great if you just want to blow off steam and you want to play alone. Take your cue stick and your cue ball, set up the table with a trick shot, and see who can hit the trick first.

This is the basic concept of artistic billiards, seeing who can hit the trick shots first; or if you are playing by yourself, seeing how many shots it takes for specific set ups. This game is addicting so playing at home is best, and that way you don't hog the public pool tables.

Practice hitting more difficult shots. This game will develop skill and technique faster than any other pool game, so that is a good reason to train this way.

Try doing slide shots, bounce shots, cannon shots, and combo shots. Slide means controlling the roll of the cue ball after it is hit.

This is going to affect its movement after it makes contact with the object ball. Try making the cue ball land in a specific spot after hitting the object ball.

Bounce shots are going to use cushions in part with the strike. Try making single rail shots, then two rail, to eventually three rail shots.

If you can use the rails to your advantage, you are going to have a huge advantage over you opponents. I haven't played too many people who can actually do that effectively.

Cannon shots are the shots where you knock one ball into another. This is going to be a great technique for lining up future shots.

Combos are where you are going to make two balls in one strike. This is the most difficult of all pool skills to learn.
