Plant Stands

For much less than $10 a stool, you can create a tiered plant atrium that's funky and functional. First, look for cheap bar stools that have a solid, hard top rather than a padded seat. Then, cut each stand to a different height by sawing off the legs, but be careful that the stool is still level.

When you're ready, strip each stool, sand it down, prime it and paint it with your own custom colors. Take your plant stand customization further with some beading or funky fringe.

You can go all out with your bar stool customization and even make a mosaic tile top or a decoupage covering. Go a step further and opt for a glitter design sealed forever with a resin coating.

Bedside Table

It might scream "dorm room decor," but discount bar stools make a good bedside table. Dress it up with a fabric throw or tablecloth and presto - you have got a compact table that matches your bedroom decor. The vinyl-topped models may be as well unsteady for drinks, but should be fine for holding a bedside lamp and a couple of books.

One of the best uses for discount bar stools is as extra seating for guests. For family reunions, local events, games nights or actually as children's seating for dinner parties, those stools can go a long way.
