Creating Creativity For Beginners

By:

Creativity isn't something that some people have and others don't. That is like saying some people have strength and others do not.

It is something we can develop and learn; just like body builders build strength so can you also build creativity. There are two types of creativity the first is genuine creativity this is when we conceive new ideas or thoughts completely out of nothing.

Then there is also synthetic creativity, this is when you use several ideas together or mixed to make something new. It is like piecing together a jig saw of aspects from other things that have already been created.

Genuine creativity is going to be a little harder to develop than your average synthetic creativity. Don't get discourage though, because it is still very possible and plausible to become the creative thinker you wish to be.

First exercise to becoming creativity is mind mapping. Sit down and think about something that you could improve or change.

Choose something you do not have a clear answer to. Take a piece of paper and a pen, and write the problem down in the center of the page and circle it (or you can illustrate the problem with a simple picture).

Now sit back in a second you will have a thought that is inspired by the first, right that down too, circle it, and draw a line from the first thought to the second. Repeat and write a third thought on the paper connect it to either the first or second thought.

Do this until you have the paper full of thoughts. This is a fun way to outline any situations or problems you may have and it will give you a unique perspective on it that a traditional outline wouldn't give you.

Begin writing your ideas down, keep a note book with you at all times. Keep one near your bed, at work, in the kitchen; be sure to have one by your side at all times.

Having all your ideas written down will prevent you from forgetting anything you don't want to forget. This will also decrease stress.

Being stressed that you will forget your ideas will inhibit new ideas from coming in, and we don't want that. Start recording your dreams; when we dream we are not consciously aware of where our minds are taking us.

Recalling dreams can take you to new portions of your mind which you never thought could exist. Another good way to stretch creativity is by asking yourself questions you wouldn't normally get.

A fun question to ask yourself, what would you do with a million dollars? Get a detailed answer. Now ask, what would you do with a million dollars if you couldn't directly spend any of the money yourself?
