Creating A Fantastic Family Movie Night That Is Sure To Bring Everlasting Memories

By:

When you are thinking of a way to bring your family together that won't have your teenagers rolling their eyes, family films should make the top of the list. But how do you create a great movie night that won't bore them all to tears? Make it interactive, make it special and create something that will make lasting memories for your kids for years to come.

Pencil it into the schedule. It might sound hokey but if you make sure that a certain night of the week is the official movie night, you set the standard. It's always a great way to relax and unwind on a Friday night to kick off the weekend to come, but you can make it any night of the week you want. Turn off the computers, phones and set the time. It's often great to plan for it by also instituting a simple dinner to start. You can either order take out or have something premade and ready to go.

Make sure that all of the chores and work that needs to be done around the house is complete. You can even make this a family event of straightening up the house prior to dinner. Getting everyone to help out promotes a spirit of teamwork and cooperation. It's much easier to relax with good family films when the rest of the house is nice and neat.

If you've got younger kids, it is often a great idea to get crafty. You can make a box office or perhaps even a 'snack bar' and play pretend. Younger children love playing movie theatre, and if you want to go full tilt, they can even usher you to your seat with a flashlight. Create a comfy, special feel by using throw pillows, bean bag chairs, and other comfy places to sit during the movie. Do not forget to turn off the lights for an added touch.

Of course you also want to have the right snacks. This is one area where you can play around a great deal. With so many people feeling health conscious these days, if you'd rather prepare healthier snacks, you can. Or you can go for the usually purchase movie theatre style candies, found at most major grocers. There are also plenty of make-ahead snack recipes that kids will love to help you prepare in anticipation of the family film night. It really just depends on how you as a family prefer to do things.
