Create Your Own Wall Artwork To Help Save Money

By:

Nearly any room in your house can be spruced up and made more appealing when you place art on the wall. Shopping for wall art is often a lot of fun, since there is almost no end to the artistic items you will find. Unfortunately, some wall artwork can be almost as pricey as it is beautiful. If you'd like to decorate your home with some interesting pieces of artwork without breaking your home budget, here are some quick and easy ideas for creating your own creative wall art. Even if you don't think you have any artistic abilities, you will be able to utilize a few of these ideas to create stunning results.

Do All of Your Own Picture Framing

It's likely that you have plenty of pictures sitting around in boxes if you're a fan of taking photos. And if you use a digital camera to take pictures then a large portion of your hard drive is probably taken up with lots of gigabytes of pictures. Why not use some of these pictures to make your own beautiful wall art? Not only is this project cheap, but it also doesn't require any special artistic talent. Simply choose a couple of your favorite pictures and exhibit them in picture frames. You may even take some of your photos to a photo shop or department store camera section and have them produce enlargements out of your developed pictures or digital files. Or you could make a fun scrapbook page and then show it off in a 12x12 picture frame. The end result will be art that has personal meaning to you, and which will also be just as beautiful as the more costly framed photos and art prints you can buy at the store or art gallery.

Make Your Own Textures Wall Hangings

Fabric wall hangings are yet another form of art that can be used to add a lot of style to your home. You can create wall hangings even when sewing isn't your greatest skill. For example, you can tie cords to a support rod and weave interesting patterns with fabric strips. If quilting is a thing you enjoy then you might make a wall hanging out of a small quilt. You can even use stencils and paint designs on a large piece of canvas, stitching a pocket all along the top edge so you can display it on a rod. If you've got children then they may also enjoy helping with some of these projects.

Making Wall Art by Using Collectables

You can also use those small collectables you might have as decorations for your walls. For instance, try displaying a spoon or thimble collection on your wall. There are even specially made display cases which you can make use of for this purpose. Or, create your own artistic exhibit from small objects with a shadow box frame. If you enjoy photography, you may even want to create interesting art arrangements with your collectables, which you may then photograph, print them out and display in picture frames. This will work whether you use objects that you have previously collected over time, or instead choose to search thrift stores, flea markets, and garage sales to find neat objects that would look good in your house.

From textiles to collectables, you'll love brightening up your home with these fun and unique forms of wall art.
