Create Christmas Decorations With Items From Around The House

Christmas is a time of year full of traditions and fun. Many families have passed down traditions for many years. Some just start traditions for their family as a new, fun activity. Starting these new traditions is quite easy. One such idea is traditionally making specific Christmas decorations each year. Free Christmas decoration ideas can be found easily in stores and online, you just need to be willing to browse.

When you look around you in your own home, you will be surprised how many items you will find that you can use to make Christmas decorations. Anything from using evergreens to decorate a candle, to using popcorn to make a garland, to using felt and glitters to make your own ornaments can be accomplished with simple items that you already own.

Paper is a logical choice when it comes to making your own Christmas decoration. You could cut strips from any of the paper around your house, whether it is the newspaper, packaging materials or any other paper you may have. Take one strand and put the ends together with some overlap. Glue the overlapping peaces together to form the first ring. Stick the second peace of paper through the first ring and glue the ends together. Use all kinds of different colors to make a chain for your Christmas tree or to decorate any part of your house.

Another fun Christmas decoration that is easy to make and takes little time, effort or money, is a popcorn garland. First, prepare the popcorn. Secondly, get a thread the length of the garland. Thread the needle and stick the needle through the middle of the popped kernels, until the popcorn covers the whole thread. Knot the end of the threat and use your garland to decorate your tree or any other place in your house.

If you are looking to make each family member their own ornament, craft is the way to go. Get yourself some felt, a hot glue gun, glitters and whatever you want to display on each of the ornaments, like buttons or pictures. Cut the felt in the shape of the ornament and attach the object to the felt. Decorate the felt with glitter and let the ornament dry. Attach a string, so that each of your family members can hang their own ornament in the tree.

Christmas is a time for fun with family and friends. Using free Christmas decoration ideas to bring spirit and holiday cheer to your home or workplace makes economical sense and keep the creative juices flowing. Take the time to make your own decorations for heirlooms and a sense of accomplishment. The time spent with your family will not be soon forgotten.
