Eczema lotions are important to assist the skin's recovery from red lesions, itchiness, dryness and peeling. Moisturizing is one of the most important tools needed to improve the areas subject to the rash. Cream Steroids are often recommended for healing the red pimples and patches. This does help some people reduce inflammation however it needs to be used on a short-term basis. For some people, they find when they stop the use of the medication, the rash returns. Dermatologists recommend that you stop after three weeks for a week to avoid thinning the skin. Some people with severe eczema may be given oral steroids to relieve some redness and itching. However, there are still many patients that are afraid of taking steroids because of the side effects that it may cause to the person.

In addition to topical steroids, moisturizing lotions are often recommended by physicians. When I used a topical steroid on its own, it didn't improve my skin. I found that using olive oil, coconut oil and neem oil hydrating my skin and helped the redness fade. It is easy for the skin to dry out when you are in the sun or in an air conditioned building.
Be sure when you use an eczema lotion that you check the ingredients and see if it's for sensitive skin. If you don't do this, you may react to an ingredient or get too dry from the alcohol content in some creams over the counter.

Some natural solutions to apply to the skin include shea butter, evening primrose oil and aloe vera. Taking supplements that contain essential fatty acids such as flax seed oil help to repair the skin. Eczema treatments normally provide short term relief, but for best results, natural eczema treatments are still your best bet. Because there is a lot of stress with a rash, a good multivitamin can help build your immune system and keep you strong. Itching is also helped by moisturization. The less you itch, the less you scratch and damage the skin.
