Crazy Stories From Car And Caravan Insurance Claims

By:

Protecting against damage to a caravan in situ is the prime reason for caravan insurance, this usually covers accidental damage from burst pipes, fire and theft, much the same as house insurance. There are however some more unusual stories to be found, and it makes the mind boggle as to what some people get up to in their caravans! But accidents don't just happen when parked up, and caravan insurance should incorporate accidents that occur on roads too. These bizarre tales highlight how important insurance is both on the road and on site.

We are all aware that the open road is a dangerous place, and there are plenty of claim stories from car insurance companies that are bizarre tales of survival and testaments to the lucky escapes that happen every day on the highways and byways in the UK. For each of these stories there is a caravan tale of a similar nature, here are some of the wackiest caravan insurance claims that bring not only amusement, but also sheer bewilderment.

The most unnecessary of the bunch was a claim for less than two pounds for a broken light bulb. The incident occurred when the owner was attempting to change the bulb, and dropped it. It is amazing that the claim went through successfully considering the cost of the phone call and the administration charge completely outweighed to price of the bulb!

Another caravan insurance claim features the antics of an overly amorous couple who were eager to test out the bed in their newly purchased caravan. Unfortunately, being caravanning novices, they failed to apply the handbrake after unhitching, so once bedroom antics were well underway, the couple found it wasn't actually the earth moving, it was themselves careering down a hill and into a lake!

As far as car claims go, a woman who spotted a magpie whilst driving remembered the one for sorrow, two for joy mantra, so eagerly looked out for the second bird to appear to bring a bit of sunshine into her life. Unfortunately, while she took her eyes off the road to do this, she drove into the back of the car in front. One for sorrow it is then!

Another motoring favourite is of a lady that performed an emergency stop as a cat ran out in front of her car. Unfortunately, the van driver behind drove straight into her, causing a great deal of damage, and in his fury, did not believe a word the woman said about the cat until it ran out unharmed from under the car.
