Cpr And First Aid Training

By:

As per the recent statistics from reliable sources occurrence of immediate cardiac arrest has been one of the leading causes for death in this modern world. When the heart ceases functioning, still the human brain is capable to survive even without oxygen up to four minutes. This factor serves as the basic for the relevance of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation abbreviated as CPR and first aid training. Those four minutes are the most critical minutes of life when the proper provision of CPR can carry oxygenated blood towards victims heart and the brain. This can dramatically increase the possibility of survival for the victim.

The process is not a very huge mission to accomplish but a simple task which can be learned and performed by anyone. The air inhaled travels to the lungs where oxygen gets into our blood. After that is pumped by our heart to the organs and tissues. The reasons for cardiac arrest may be numerous. In adults, normally it occurs due to heart failure. Other cases are injuries like drowning, electrocution etc. This hinders the oxygen to circulate throughout the entire body and leads to the rapid killing of tissues and cells. In short CPR serves both as artificial respirator and artificial heartbeat.

It is not guaranteed that the victim will be saved if he is provided CPR. But still the possibility of survival is 40% if CPR is performed within that critical period followed by defibrillation. Never leave the victim or make him drink water. Water should not be thrown on to the face of victim and also never try to bring him into sitting position. Slapping on the face will no revive him and may make the situation worse.

If you are untrained in providing CPR, then it advisable to provide it by means of hands only. The chest should be compressed without any interruption with nearly hundred presses per minute. You need not provide rescue breathing as you are untrained but continue pressing till the arrival of paramedics. If you have received training for providing CRP but still not confident restrict yourself to the hand presses only. In case you are very well trained and also confident about your abilities follow rescue breathing after chest compressions. Always check for the airways to provide rescue breaths. It is always advisable for everyone to undergo CPR and first aid training as the need may arise for anyone and at any time.
