Cozumel Real Estate Community's Messenger Of Peace Delivers A Special Message To New York

By:

On the day before 8th anniversary of the attack on the Twin Towers, Zamna - the ship representing the Cozumel Real Estate community's message of peace - arrived in New York City. Zamna departed from the Cozumel Real Estate area on 26 August with a crew of 14. The ship came to New York specifically on this date to deliver its message of peace to the world.

The ship, built in Mexico in a combination of ancient styles, is carrying a child of Mayan origin from the Cozumel Real Estate area - Antonio Angulo, 12, who has the role of delivering the message of peace to children and the population in general along the ship's journey.

On arrival to New York , the ship received an emotional welcome ceremony. Antonio, who travels with his father Carlos, presented the Peace Flag to Mathew, a child living in New York, and to two of this companions. He also handed them letters written about peace by Mexican children, which will be translated and read by more children who have taken the responsibility to become promoters of peace.

"On behalf of Cozumel and the International Committee of the Peace Flag, I give this flag as a symbol of peace for humankind," said Antionio during the ceremony. The International Committee of the Peace Flag is a non-governmental branch of the United Nations.

Meanwhile Mathew, made an effort to respond to Antonio in Spanish, expressing his appreciation for the delivery of the Peace Flag and added that now he will make it available, along with the message, to all people who he has contact with.

The event was attended by Ida Perich, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Michael Bloomberg, representing the Mayor of New York, Ismael Macias Navejar, the Mexican consul, Manuel Diaz Rubio, the owner of the "Zamna," representatives of Tourism Board and Marrufo Alberto Gonzalez, director of tourism in the municipality of Cozumel.

On the next day, September 11, Antonio placed a wreath at Ground Zero to mark the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers.

Antonio, chosen as the bearer of the message from a group of children from the Cozumel Real Estate area, said that although he was used to sailing, since he comes from a family of fishermen, this is the first time he has taken such a long voyage.

"It's my first experience and I think it'll be the most beautiful and most interesting in my whole life," said the boy, who returned to Cozumel on a few days later to continue his classes. He will rejoin the voyage within the month in Spain, the next country to be visited.

The boy, who communicates with his mother in Cozumel as soon arrives at a port, says it is his first trip to New York and would like to visit the Statue of Liberty and the Intrepid Museum.

The idea of this initiative, called "The Child, the Sea and Cozumel for peace" came from the Spanish navigator Vital Alsaro Ramirez, captain of Zamna, who presented the proposal to the Cozumel Real Estate community. The idea, which came into existence eight years ago, was welcomed by the authorities of Cozumel; in addition to delivering Cozumel's message of peace, the project promotes the island as a tourist and real estate destination.

On Saturday September 12, the voyage left New York heading to its first European destination, Santander, Spain, where they will continue the journey to Bilbao, Cadiz, Mallorca and Barcelona, in Spain, and then visit Portugal, the port of Ostia in Rome, the city of Tunis, Alexandria in Egypt, and complete the journey in Piraeus, Greece. Further updates on the voyage of Zamna will continue to be posted by the TOPMexicoRealEstate NETWORK, "Your Expert Property-Finders" for Cozumel and the rest of Mexico.
