Most of these used to be of low market value and thus farmers did not plant these crops even if filed was empty. Cover crop improves diversity in cropping system in a particular land. Changing of crop after 2-3 years delivers commercial benefits besides making the soils more productive. If you dont get better price of crop as per expectation in one year, you may recover the loss next season by having more demanded and better priced crop. Also, changing of weather conditions also make it mandatory to change the traditional crop plantation calendar.
