Court Reporter's Salary - 3 Different Kinds Of Work

By:

A court room reporter's salary can vary quite dramatically depending on the type of work they are doing and the type of organization they are working for. As with many career types, you can do a variety of different tasks within this field and each one has its own level of pay and salary rates to fit the work load, importance and employer's needs.

Official Reporters - This kind of court room reporter is hired by the court and receives a salary and generally receives benefits as well. They are paid on a page basis and will be given other work to do when they are not actually transcribing work in the courtroom. Stenographers who fall into this category can often get loaned and exchanged with neighbouring court houses when the work load is uneven and can even raise an additional income through being loaned out in quiet times.

Freelancers, Own Agency - For court room reporters who have a good record and a high motivation for working at their own pace and organizing their own workload, opening their own agency and working freelance is a very lucrative option. In this situation you can work as much as you like and charge fees as you see fit. This allows you the freedom to structure your day to suit how much you wish to earn balanced with how much time you want to spend working. You can find your own clients and be hired on a contractual and temporary basis according to your own guidelines and requirements.

Although it comes with greater responsibility, this is the kind of work that can allow you the greatest income at the end of the day. The earning potential is much higher than a salary based or hourly job and as long as you have the drive and commitment, you can make this into a very profitable business.

Real Time Translation - This work is paid on an hourly basis and your salary depends solely on how many hours you actually work. Translation of this kind is not as lucrative as that of the actual court room reporter as the skill set required and responsibility is not as high. This job can be very rewarding and people can get a lot of satisfaction from helping people such as the hearing impaired, but this work is not going to be bringing in the money like a court reporter positions would.

All these kinds of job are similar with slight difference that will have an impact on the salary range you can expect to achieve. Depending on your personal requirements and lifestyle you can find the perfect job for you in this industry which will start you earning a healthy income for the future.
