Country Footwear For Country Folk

For those who live in the country, and those who wish they did, there is country footwear to please most anyone. Boots, cowboy boots, sandals, clogs, and sneakers are but a few types of foot covering designed to protect our feet while walking, running, and playing. They can be manufactured from leather, canvas, plastic, or vinyl and have varying degrees of heel height.

Women in particular may become collectors of shoes in many varieties and styles.

Cowboy boots

Probably the most popular of all country footwear is the cowboy boot. They can be machine-made or hand-crafted by master boot makers. The materials that comprise the cowboy boot are usually made from leather or cowhide but they may be made from snakeskin, ostrich, elephant, alligator, eel, elk, buffalo or other leather-like materials. Colours vary with the owner 's taste and what type of material they are manufactured from. Turquoise inlays and other jewels have been known to grace the exterior of some of this type of boot. The traditional cowboy boot has a high heel of maybe two inches which is designed to keep control while in a stirrup. This is called a riding heel and a flatter heel which is referred to as a walking heel and the toe is generally pointed or rounded. They can be from mid calf to knee high.

Working boots

Work boots are generally made with safety of workers in mind and many include steel toe protection for work place safety. Heavy duty working boots may be called steel capped boots or safety boots and are designed to protect the wearers toe area from heavy weight being dropped on them. They are typically made from heavy leather and have thick heels that may be made from slip resistant materials. Boots themselves may be made from leather or some composite materials such as thermoplastic polyurethane for endurance and protection of workers feet.

Casual country footwear

From the time we are infants and begin walking our feet are usually protected by some form of footwear. Sandals and sneakers are extremely popular in warm climates and while they don 't offer much protection from the elements or heavy objects dropped on our feet, they are comfortable and convenient. Sneakers are popular in sports, particularly on basketball courts. Boxers wear them for good traction when in the ring. Football players wear them with cleats inserted on the bottoms for excellent traction and running speed on the field.

Sneakers are popular around the world for their comfort. They are great for running, walking, and even can go into the water at the beach. Generally made from canvas or cotton material, they are easy to clean and wear well considering their reasonable cost. Sandals are worn around the world and may be manufactured by hand or machine. They are usually made from leather, plastic, or even cloth materials. The typical sandal has an open or mesh toe and straps running around the heel to hold them on, or they may be "flip flops" and merely connect between the wearer's big toe and the next toe. They are worn everywhere, but seldom at formal affairs.
