If youre planning a vacation to the beautiful country of Thailand in Southeast Asia where you will be welcomed by smiling locals, where you can enjoy the beach year-round and where you will not be lacking in sightseeing tours to take then you definitely should learn about Phuket.

Phuket is Thailands largest island, roughly 48 kilometres in length and faces the Andaman Sea coastline to the west. Out of all the cities in Phuket, only a couple of towns are not on the beach: the administrative centre of Phuket Town, and Chalong Bay which is the primary gateway to get to the islands.

With such a vast number of beaches in Phuket to choose from, we have come up with a top ten list so that you would have an idea about the highlights offered by each one:
1.Patong Beach
Ask any local for recommendations for beach resorts and youll probably get Patong Beach as the answer. This is the largest beach resort in Phuket, and also has earned its reputation of being the party capital of Asia. Aside from its beautiful and extensive coastline, Patong Beach is known for its lively nightlife.

2.Karon/Karon Noi Beaches
Located on the west coast of Phuket, Karon and Karon Noi are the second most-developed beaches next to Patong. There plenty of accommodation and dining establishments here and the view of a Karon sunset is simply stunning.

3.Cape Panwa Beach
Located south of Phuket Town, Cape Panwa Beach is largely unspoiled where you will have a view of lush hills, mangroves and sandy coves all which you can enjoy away from the crowd. This beach is also home to the Phuket Aquarium.

4.Bang Thao or Laguna Beach
Located on the north-western side of Phuket, Bang Thao or Laguna Beach is a large, open bay with one of the longest beaches in the area.

5.Laem Sing
Roughly translated to Lions Point, Laem Sing is located between Kamala and Surin Beach. With its small, curving bay and forest-lined cliffs, Laem Sing offers one of the most beautiful views in Thailand.

6.Nai Han and Ao Sen Beaches
Located at the southernmost tip of Phuket, these two beaches offer the Phromthep Cape as a highlight, particularly the view at Sunset Point.

7.Rawai, Laem Ka and Mittraphap Beaches
For those who would like to have a picnic by the beach, these thee beaches particularly Rawai are a popular spot. It is also home to the Phuket Sea Shell Museum.
8.Jungle Beach
Locally known as Ao Sane Beach, Jungle Beach can be reached via a dirt road that runs through the car park of a local yacht club in Nai Harn.

9.Mi Khao Beach
If youre headed on the west coast of Phuket, make sure to visit Mai Kaho Beach its a real island getaway where you can relax by a hammock while enjoying a dip in the blue waters.

10.Kamala Beach
For vacationers who want to be away from the crowd, make sure to visit Kamala Beach which is located on the west coast of Phuket. Some of the sightseeing highlights here include a Fantasea Show and the Buddhist temple which you can visit when you venture on the southern end of Kamala.

There are a few other beaches and plenty of small islands located between Phuket and Krabi Province. Even if you stay in Phuket for a couple of weeks or so, you probably would not be able to exhaust the dozens of possibilities when it comes to the little nooks and crannies that you can explore.
