Could You Use Gu10?

Consumers all over the world are trying to conserve more energy and they are changing out their old traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs for energy efficient light bulbs. In the US and other countries most bulbs use the Edison screw base. However, in the UK, Australia and many other countries consumers are buying GU10 low energy light bulbs for their light fixtures.

GU10 low energy light bulbs are energy efficient bulbs with the GU10 base. This is similar to a bayonet cap, except the connecting pins come straight down out of the base. This makes them easy to install and there are numerous bulb styles to fit many of your GU10 based fixtures.

Most of our home light sources use regular bulbs and there are many options and varieties of GU10 low energy light bulbs. There are bulbs that produce a warm light and others that produce a cool seeming light. And the newer GU10 energy efficient bulbs come on fast and are flicker free. They have a special spiral construction to provide even light distribution and more durable front glass covers. Some come fitted with an aluminum reflector. They are also cooler and less fragile, making them safer to use and thus reducing hazards and injuries.

There are also GU10 low energy light bulbs to fit decorative and specialty lighting fixtures. You can find GU10s in candle lights, globe lights and small lamp lights. There are GU10s energy efficient bulbs that dim and some that fit into three-way sockets. In addition there are energy saving bulbs for recessed and track lighting, to highlight those special displays in and around your home and business.

There are also GU10 low energy light bulbs which incorporate LED technology. These use a cluster of LEDS, often over a hundred lights, and are great for spotlights and outdoor lights where you want a concentrated bright light that doesnt burn a lot of energy and has a long life. And because the GU10 base can withstand vibrations and jarring motions, it provides stability to your light sources and is often found in indicator lights and electronic components.

Of course the main reason to switch to energy saving bulbs is to reduce energy consumption and save on operating cost. Replacing old halogen bulbs with GU10 efficient light bulbs can reduce your operating cost by more than you would expect. Also, because these bulbs have a long life span and can last for years, you will buy fewer and save bulb maintenance cost and dispose of less waste.

Many governments and councils are requiring their residents to use energy efficient bulbs. What is great to learn is that the manufacturers have created these bulbs in all the styles, shapes, and colors that we use in our homes. Consumers can select from Edison Screw, Bayonet, or GU10 low energy light bulbs to update and fit all the light sources in their homes and workplaces. And since each bulb uses less energy, the more energy efficient that you use, the more you save while decreasing consumer waste.
