Could Music Have A Big Influence In Living Long And Healthy?

By:

Healthy living is generally defined by how physically healthy you

are, correct? For example, if you have a cold or are sick, you are

considered unhealthy. If you have a life altering disease such as cancer or

H.I.V., you are not healthy. Now does this mean that it is completely

physical? No Way! Health is also made up by your mental state. Ponder

this, the kind of music you listen to generally affects your personality

type. Here is a perfect example: I I used to listen to Hard Rock and was

extremely wild, mischievous, full of energy, and lots of fun! Today I am

more mature, I listen to lighter music and I am more relaxed, laid back,

careless, and less energetic.

Let us focus on music and setting the mood. Again, talking about the metal

music, how does that make you feel when you hear it? I can tell you from

experience that metal music gets my blood rushing, my heart pounding, my

pulse pulsing. It kicks me into overdrive! Now, how do you feel when you

listen to light music? Let me take you to the opposite extreme and use

classical music as an scenario. While listening to a song composed by

Beethoven, how do you feel? I am generally feeling very upper scale, smart,

makes me feel like expanding my knowledge, opening a book, become a better

person. It puts me in a totally different mindset. What does it do for

you?

So how does this make you live healthier? The correct kind of music can

help your mood and attitude improve, creating a positive and happy outlook

on life. It is truth that a happier person lives an extended life and is in

better health than someone who is always worried, miserable, and unhappy.

The body was not designed to handle stress all the time. This is where

disease stems from. Think of the word, dis ease. This means there is

not ease in the body, mental stress can be the cause. Music can be the

cure.

Music can be a great enjoyment for all involved. How great do you feel when

you listen to your favorite song come on the iPod or radio? How do you feel

when you hear a song you do not like? Completely opposite right?

Let us talk about movies. What about scary movies, what kind of soundtrack

do they have? Some play really creepy high pitched, fast paced scary music,

others have gotten smart and have no music. This is smart because mentally,

with no music, your mind plays tricks on you. Do you recall the Blair Witch

Project? It was a very low budget flick, and done with little to no music.

Somehow it still was one of the most popular and watched suspense movies of

its time.

What about your movies that make you happy? Next time you get a chance,

watch Disneys Enchanted? It is a musical all in its own that has light,

fluffy, dance in the street, hug your neighbor, charming music. It makes me

feel extremely caring and uncharacteristically in the mood to hug a

chipmunk. Disney knew what they were doing with this. As with most Disney

movies the music is crucial. It puts the audience in a positive mind frame

and gives them something to look forward to.

What about action movies, what type of music do they focus on? Would you

say fast paced rock, techno, heavy music? Think about one of the best

action movies ever The Matrix. The theme song is a bass guitar with a

fast paced riff. It puts me in the mood to do some damage! Not the most

positive mood, but still, makes me happy for the time being.

So, how do you tie this all in to being healthy? Find out what makes you

happy and concentrate your efforts on that sort of music. Do not attempt to

trick yourself; you know what it is that makes you feel good. Enjoy the

knowledge that you now posess on living just a little bit healthier with

music and share this with your friends.
