Cosmetic dentists often work to improve the overall appearance of a patient's teeth, gums, and general smile. These professionals typically have this goal in mind and focus mostly on the appearance and function of the teeth.

In some cases, this type of procedure can be a simple substitute for more elaborate procedures, such as braces.

Cosmetic dentists also perform bonding which is a process that uses a product that resembles enamel to be applied to the tooth, sculpted, polished, and hardened.

Next, veneers are also quite common, and are custom made laminates that are super thin and applied directly to the surface of the tooth. They are a terrific option to close gaps, to improve the appearance of discolorations, and to repair some types of damage.

Gum lifts are also performed and work to raise and sculpt the appearance of the gum line. This is done by reshaping the tissue, and sometimes the bones underneath in order to create a longer more symmetrical tooth appearance.

Finally, bite reclamation is for patients who have significant damage or wear to their teeth due to grinding or acid reflux, which reduces the length and dimension of the teeth. This procedure allows for the smile to be opened up, which improves the look of the length of the teeth, and in some cases even removes unsightly wrinkles. The overall finished effect is an appearance that is more youthful and one that eliminates the need for further plastic surgery.
