Cosmetic Dentistry Costs, Payment Plans, And Financing Options

By:

There are many cosmetic dentistry procedures than can transform the smiles of people who are, for various reasons, unhappy with their teeth. Some of these procedures include teeth whitening, dental implants, and porcelain veneers. While they all have a different function, each procedure has one thing in common: They are rather expensive.

For many who are wonderful candidates for a cosmetic dentistry procedure, the cost is prohibitive. While finding a way to pay can be difficult for some, there are options for those who are determined. Here are some payment options.

Insurance
This comes as a shock to some people, but some dental insurance plans will cover a portion of certain cosmetic dentistry procedures. Of course, there are several factors that the insurance companies will consider when making their decision, but if you have insurance, you should talk to your dentist and your insurance company to see if this may be an option for you.

Even if the insurance will only pay a portion of the total cost that will mean less money that you will have to pay out of pocket.

In-Office Financing
One of the most popular financing options for cosmetic dentistry is in-office financing. Generally, this is when the dentist has formed a relationship with a lender. The application for this financing is all handled right at your dentists office, but the decision about whether to approve you for the loan is made by the finance company.

Payment Plans
Some cosmetic dentists offer payment plans. This differs from in-house financing in that rather than using a lender, the dentist is taking the risk of loaning you the money himself. He does the work and then you make monthly payments to him.

For obvious reasons, not all dentists offer such a plan, but there another similar option. Think of it as layaway. You would make payments each month to the dentist BEFORE you have the procedure. Then, when the full amount of the procedure has been paid, the work is done.

This is not the most attractive option to many people, but for people with substandard credit it may be the only option. Of course, using credit cards or taking out a personal loan are also popular ways that people pay for these procedures.
