Corner Shelves - Save Space In Your Room

Small spaces are difficult to decorate especially if there are items that need to sit on shelves, and wall shelves are not in your cards. The perfect space saving tip is to utilize corner shelves.

They sit in the corner out of your way and take up less floor space. They are a fantastic way to display figurines, collectibles, trophies, crafts and other items that you want to have displayed in a home.

Usually there is some storage space located in the entertainment center either below where the TV is or on either side, there is space to store other video and audio equipment and sections to hold movies and games. These are handy pieces of furniture and their cornering capabilities free up some valuable floor space. There are all types of shelving that is made to sit in the corner of the room. Some entertainment centers are made to fit neatly tucked away in the corner of a room. These entertainment centers are angled in the back at a perfect forty five degree angle so that it can be butted up to the corner of a room. This saves space and actually makes the entertainment center easily viewed from most angles in the room.

Curio cabinets are made to display collections; they are typically narrow and have glass shelving with glass doors. There are curio cabinets that are made to be corner shelves. The back of the cabinet is angled to fit nicely into a corner of the room. With a cabinet that is not made to sit in the corner of the room if it is placed in the corner, caddy corner style, all of the floor space sitting behind it is lost. Corner shelving in the form of a curio cabinet frees up that space that otherwise would be lost by this initiative rear angled design.

It would be impractical for a book case to be made in the corner shelving design, because there would be valuable shelf space that could not be used to store books because of the angle of the back side of the shelves. A china cabinet or hutch would pose the same design problem. Not all shelving is meant to be designed as corner shelving.

Corner shelves are a good way to save space and to display miscellaneous items, corner shelves are not right for every application but they are perfect for many.
