Along with aerobic exercise comes the core training that is vital to a good physique. The core muscles includes the abdominal as well as those muscles that surround the hips and run the length of your frame. For optimum health it is vitally important to maintain and strengthen the core muscles.

Of course, the primary reason most people do core exercising is to look good. The back and abdominal strength the exercises accomplish give a svelte appearance but more than that, make the person seem younger because it puts power in their walk and tall straight posture. There a a couple of ways to improve the strength of those core muscles. Pilates is one method of core training as are balance or stability balls and bender balls, the smaller version of a stability ball especially designed for use with core exercise training.

Some of the larger stability balls and exercise balls aid in improving your core strength and stability with simple exercises you do sitting on the ball. Your Ab's will enjoy the workout they will get trying to maintain the balance on the ball. However, it's difficult to use the larger stability ball in coordination with many of the floor exercises for the abdominal or core muscles. In order to accomplish this, the smaller balls are the best option. These smaller fitness balls increase the effectiveness of most exercises, in particular, the crunch, one of the best to improve the strength of the core muscles. Using a bender ball with the crunch makes a great exercise even better as it improves the over all effectiveness on the muscle group while giving allowing the person exercising to position their body in a manner that reduces potential for muscle or back injury. These balls are also beneficial as an aid in other core exercises besides the crunch.

Here patience counts because choosing the right method that works well for you might take some time. Besides putting a lot less strain on the back a good number of these fitness aids make the exercise a lot more fun and beneficial. Let's face it, many times people do a core workout to increase the strength of the back and abdominal muscles, not stress them. It makes sense to look for all the help you can get.
