Coolsculpting To Reduce Body Fat Edmonton Dr Barry Lycka

The new Coolsculpting Fat Reduction Treatment is featured in a TV interview with Edmonton Dermatologist Dr Barry Lycka. In this 2 minute TV feature, Dr Lycka explains what is coolsculpting and how it helps to reduce body fat.

As a follow up to an earlier video and article which introduced Coolsculpting by Zeltiq as a way to reduce body fat without diets, exercise or trauma, Dr. Barry Lycka, host and founder of YourCosmeticDoctor .tv website explains in further detail what is coolsculpting, and how this new cosmetic procedure works. He is interviewed by Global TV Edmonton as part of their Health Matters series.

The TV Interview not only explains how the process works to reduce body fat, but demonstrates the equipment being used on a client. The benefits of this non-invasive technique, and some typical results achieved are also highlighted.

Edmonton Gobal TV anchorman Gord Steinke, and Su Ling Goh introduced the feature by talking about love handles, muffin tops, saddle bags as all being cute names for problems that many people don't find funny -- that of having excess fat. The new and non-invasive procedure called Coolsculpting can help, which involves freezing the fat.

Coolsculpting is based on research that started in the 1970s when scientists noticed that kids who ate a lot of popsicles would sometimes develop dimples in their cheeks. It was believed that cooling the fat cells can kill them. Now a few facilities across Alberta are offering this new treatment Coolsculpting, one of them being Edmonton Cosmetic Dermatologist, Dr Barry Lycka.

As explained by Dr Lycka, "What freezing does to those fat cells is it literally turns them into crystals. The body's immune system then recognizes them and eats them up."

The concept is known as Cryolipolysis, and was discovered by Harvard researchers in the '90s who showed that fat cells are more vulnerable to cold than other cells. The Coolsculpting equipment is used to extract heat from the body, cooling the area to a top
secret temperature where only the fat is affected. Powerful suction holds the tissue in place while cooling the fat layer. It's been shown the process can kill fat cells which the body then eliminates. The procedure lasts up to two hours, costs anywhere from $750 to
$1500 for one treatment, and multiple sessions maybe needed. A couple of patients were featured receiving this new treatment which they wanted to help them to reduce body fat.

Dr. Barry Lycka promises most patients will see dramatic results within four months, saying "The magic thing is the body only produces so many fat cells. So once a person gets rid of them, they're history!"
