Convenience Foods - The Real Price

Convenience Foods - The Real Price

By:

Some foods are cheap. I mean, in every context of the word 'cheap'. They may cost only few dollars, but they also have very low value. Yet the real 'cost' of most convenience meals is on the body of the consumer, not the wallet.

If one lives off of processed box foods, prepackaged long-shelf-life foods, your basic convenience foods and the like, a higher price will be paid in the end. Usually that higher price is in the form of medical bills.

It is way more urgent check the quality of food for the price than to look at name brand appliances or clothing, yet food is so often overlooked for the sake of convenience or cheap. Food that is eaten should be REAL food, not a modified form of corn or additives, dyes or synthetic vitamins. The body cannot recognize the latter items as digestible. There is even a great deal of study to validate that they actually alter our DNA structure (and/or that of future generation's DNA, aka: our unborn half of a future child). Are either of these the 'price' you would be willing to pay to solely make meals more convenient?

The reality is that the real cost of convenience foods is shrouded. The old axiom time is money is NOT fitting when it comes to convenience foods. Just as a brief example, I can make several different varieties (up to 6) of whole grain muffins in fewer than 5 minutes. Then these muffin 'mixes' are kept in the freezer and take the same amount of time to make as it would to grab a box of muffin mix from the shelf. They cost me half of a store bought mix and I can pronounce all ingredients in them! The best part is - they will not cost the health of my family with white enriched (aka: synthesized vitamins added) 'dead' flour which is like glue to the colon. They taste a lot better, cost less and are still just as convenient. Have doubts? Then watch this video and see - http://www.youtube.com/user/thewheatguy#p/u/35/2syZ4XMUbpg

Take the extra time to understand the skills to use real food. You won't regret it - I certainly haven't. The cost savings in both health and your wallet, from instant benefit to long term FAR outweigh cheap convenience food.
